At the 2022 WebexOne event, Cisco announced a slew of new innovations, including a brand-new whiteboarding app and audio watermarking to better protect in-meeting conversations
FREMONT, CA: Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) Webex is introducing significant upgrades to its Webex suite to better accommodate hybrid employees. These updates include new features for flexible working, a partnership with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), a brand-new whiteboarding app, and tools that can assist improve security and manageability.

While participants in hybrid meetings for remote and on-premises staff need to be mindful of how they interact, organisations also need to be aware that there is a space configuration and facilities side to addressing this issue.
Reimagining the Workspace
Most of the new features Cisco has included in its Webex platform are part of what the firm refers to as a reimagining of the workplace. Despite hybrid and remote work models being a well-established method of operation, only 6.4 per cent of meeting spaces and classrooms are video-enabled, according to a Frost & Sullivan analysis on the worldwide video conferencing device market published in October 2022.
Cisco has partnered with several organisations and is introducing new features to improve video interoperability and enhance meeting workflows to address this lack of deployment. Users of the iPhone and iPad, for instance, can now annotate what they witness with Mobile Camera Share while sharing content from the front- or rear-facing camera via the Webex Meetings app. A new Cisco Room Kit EQ, an AI-based computing appliance that improves meeting experiences by video-enabling large spaces for inclusive, hybrid work, is among the further announcements.
To assist customers in designing the next generation of hybrid workplaces, the business has also unveiled a new Hybrid Workspace Design Guide. It also provides embedded camera and audio intelligence. Cisco's Smart Building Solutions include collaboration, networking, and security technology. Additionally, Webex Control Hub is now connected to Cisco Spaces, giving workers vital data like real-time occupancy and air quality updates to enhance their experience while at work.
Users will have access to a virtual lobby for online events that will enable several customizations for agendas, speaker biographies, and sponsors, owing to enhancements to Webex Events and Webinars. Additionally, new content widgets and production tools have been unveiled.
An update to Webex Calling includes new integration with Microsoft Teams, allowing users to make enterprise-grade Webex Calls conveniently from within the Teams interface. Finally, a new partnership with Microsoft enables users to have the Microsoft Teams Rooms feature on Cisco's collaboration devices.
