Salesforce has introduced Net Zero Marketplace, a platform that makes carbon credit purchases simple and transparent, allowing organisations to accelerate positive climate impact at scale.
FREMONT, CA: Salesforce has launched Net Zero Marketplace, a platform that makes buying carbon credits clear and easy, enabling businesses to hasten the beneficial effects of climate change at scale.
According to estimates, the voluntary carbon market will reach USD 50 billion globally by 2030 as organisations scramble to meet their net-zero obligations. However, organisations might not always know how to create a portfolio of carbon credits or where to begin. In addition, buyers want to have confidence that the carbon credit projects have a good impact because the process of buying carbon credits is complicated.

The Net Zero Marketplace, developed on the Salesforce Commerce Cloud, links consumers and ecopreneurs—businesspeople with an environmental focus—who spearhead and promote climate action globally. It provides a selection of carbon credits that have been evaluated by a third party and an easy eCommerce purchasing process.
A climate action hub is another component of Net Zero Marketplace, where people and businesses alike can learn more about environmental challenges. High-quality carbon credits can support businesses' efforts to achieve long-term emission reductions. Salesforce's dedication to ecopreneurs, technology, and ideals are all combined in Net Zero Marketplace to speed up climate action.

When created and used properly, carbon credits are one key instrument that can play a significant role in an organisation's all-encompassing climate strategy. Reducing emissions is undoubtedly the first step towards achieving net zero for anyone. However, cutting emissions won't be sufficient, says Christiana Figueres, a former executive secretary of the UN Climate Change Convention.
Projects for carbon credits go through several independent reviews against international criteria. The projects can issue carbon credits that can be sold if the verification process is successful. Better farming techniques, wind farms, solar cookstoves, tree planting, and forest conservation are a few examples of projects.
Finding and confirming the validity of a carbon credit can be challenging and time-consuming.
By gathering and distributing third-party ratings for projects that are not protected by paywalls or account registrations, Net Zero Marketplace removes the doubt. Organisations can select the optimum carbon credits for their needs with the support of this level of transparency.
Nearly 90 projects will be available when Net Zero Marketplace launches, spread across 11 nations in Africa, Australia, Europe, Latin America, and the United States. The descriptions of the projects, their conformity with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and, in many cases, certified third-party ratings will all be available to buyers.
Ecopreneurs and businesses with experience finding projects producing genuine climate benefits are among the new partners revealed at the launch.
